NFL Futures
A noteable king once remarked: "The ability to correctly
forecast the outcome of events is the greatest gift a man can possess"
So lets test our skills by predicting the outcome
of the NFL season
NFC East
Dallas
- Serious Super Bowl contender, explosive offense combined with a solid defense, and a winning legacy. Should get into the
playoffs as one of the top seeds.
New
York Giants - Defending Super Bowl champs will be in tough trying to retain their title this season. Could
get into playoffs or come up just short, retaining the title seems unlikely.
Washington
- Currently going through a transition period, new coaching staff implementing a new system with some inexperienced players.
Could get into playoffs as a lower seed if they gel with the new personnel and go on a late season run, but seems unlikely.
Philadelphia
- Was good a few years ago when making decent playoff runs, will attempt to go on a run again this year with
those same players now in their 30's, it's unlikely they will make the playoffs.
NFC North
Green
Bay - Are considered a contender and expected to make the playoffs, not sold on them being a serious contender,
have shown some weakness on both sides of the ball.
Detroit
Lions - Average team hoping to steal a few games and sneak into the playoffs for the first time in a while,
should play close to .500 ball, playoffs aren't likely.
Minnesota
- Adrian Peterson is the best running back in the league and can carry this team far, could get into the playoffs and scare
a few teams.
Chicago
- Solid team looking to rebound after winning the NFC a couple of years ago, could get into the playoffs.
NFC South
Carolina
- A very dangerous team, solid players all through the lineup, can be one of those shocker teams entering the playoffs as
a lower seed, should get into the playoffs, give them a chance to beat anyone.
Tampa
Bay - Decent team in a tough division with opponents who look to have improved more, unlikely they will make
the playoffs.
New
Orleans - A good team that should win as many as they lose at the least, could get into the playoffs as a
lower seed.
Atlanta
- Big sleeper team this season, picked up some key players and are playing well, could win the division and get into the playoffs
with a decent seeding.
NFC West
Arizona
- The Cards should win their division this year and get into the playoffs, have been improving steadily in recent years and
have the parts to make a good playoff run.
Seattle
- Should be considered an average team playing in the weakest NFC division, unlikely to make playoffs.
San
Francisco - Still a few years away from being a contender.
ST.
Louis - If U live in the St Louis area please contact the Rams for a uniform, this team will struggle to win
games.
NFC Probable Playoff Picture
1 - Dallas
2 - Atlanta
3 - Arizona
4 - Green Bay
5 - Carolina
6 - Chicago
On the fringe: Minnesota, New Orleans, New York
AFC East
New England - Coming
into this season off of a big downer losing in the Super Bowl, are still a good team but not as good as last year, should
get into the playoffs and pose a threat to many.
New York Jets - Look
like a decent team this year, picking up Favre will improve their chances of making the playoffs, could get into the playoffs
as a lower seed.
Buffalo - Improving
team, some good young players, could get into the playoffs.
Miami - They won't
be the worst team in the league this year but still have a way to go before being a contender.
AFC North
Pittsburgh - One
of the AFC powerhouse teams, should get into the playoffs as one of the top seeds.
Baltimore - Average
team expected to play around .500 ball, could challenge for a playoff spot.
Cincinnati - Not a promising
looking immediate future for the Bengals who have to overcome key injuries, not likely to challenge for a playoff spot.
Cleveland - Might sneak into the playoffs as a Wild Card team but not a serious contender yet, although
they are improving and have some good young players.
AFC South
Indianapolis - Indications
are that this team is going downhill after being one of the dominant teams in recent years, could still make the playoffs
and pose a threat.
Jacksonville - Impressive
young team looks like they could be ready to step up as a Super Bowl contender this season, should make the playoffs and go
on a run.
Tennessee - Darkhorse
Super Bowl contender, always contentious and can knock off anyone, some good looking young talent can improve much by the
time the playoffs come around, expect them to make the playoffs and upset some of the big boys.
Houston - No threat
to the top AFC teams yet
AFC West
San Diego - Solid team
but just a bit short of being a serious Super Bowl contender.
Denver - They can win
their division and host a playoff game, they are hovering just around the top 5 teams in the AFC.
Kansas City - A little
bit short of being a playoff contender
Oakland - Will battle
it out for the worst team in the league this year.
