This system is basically about projecting a team's rate of improvement, using whichever playing surface applies to the
game
If a game is played on turf take each teams last 3 games on that surface and likewise if the game is being played on
grass, and compare their results, going from most recent result back.
Example:
New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks
New Orleans Saints
Game 3(most recent game) = Lost by 3 points
Game 2 = Lost by 17 points
Game 1 = Lost by 31 points
The pattern shows a 14 point rate of improvement in each game, meaning that if this form holds they should win this game
by 11 points.
Seattle Seahawks
Game 3(most recent game) = Won by 3 points
Game 2 = Won by 14 points
Game 1 = Not available because we only use results from current season
